4 Signs That Show You’re a Fake Christian

It’s something we don’t really wanna talk about.

Hypocrisy.
False teachings.
Apostasy in the church.
Fake Christianity.

But, Paul himself mentioned these issues in Acts 20:

For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.

(Acts 20:29-30)

And sadly, we’re now seeing the fruit of the work that’s been done by these wolves of fake, lukewarm Christianity.

But what’s scary is that, dear reader, you yourself aren’t immune from biting into one of the very fruits of fake Christianity.

So, HOW do you know if you’ve fallen into a fake Christian lifestyle?

For today’s post, let’s look into 4 Biblical signs from the book of Isaiah that identify what a FAKE Christian TRULY is.

1. Your Adoration Toward God is Lopsided

Fake Christians’ secular priorities outweigh spiritual priorities
(Image designed by LearningToLiveSDABlog on Canva)

Isaiah 2:8 says:

Their land is also full of idols;
They worship the work of their own hands,
That which their own fingers have made.

(Isaiah 2:8)

What does that mean? Well, I like how this modern version puts it:

Their land also is full of idols: they have adored the work of their own hands, which their own fingers have made.

(Isaiah 2:8 DRA)

What does “adore” mean? Well, one dictionary gives this definition:

Love intensely; to pay honor to; be crazy about

I’d like to ask you, dear reader, a tough question.

Is God Someone you ADORE? Is He Someone you INTENSELY LOVE? Is He Someone you’re CRAZY about? Is God Someone you greatly praise and honor?

Often the things in life that you adore the most is what you spend time with, what you think and talk about.

Is God Someone you love to spend time with, think about, and talk about? What place does God have in your heart?

Or…do you adore something else? Or someone else?

Dear reader, is God the One you worship, honor, and love FIRST and FOREMOST? Or is it some idol? Some person, perhaps? Or maybe it’s an object like your phone, or a video game? Or maybe it’s something abstract like a dream job?

>>>>NOTE: If you wanna know exactly whether or not you are idolizing something, check out a FREE checklist from Learning To Live that gives you the three simple signs of idolatry! Check it out HERE

Real Christians place God above everything and everyone in life; God is their genuine #1.
Fake Christians place God as a lesser priority;

worldly, secular things are their genuine #1.

2. Your Religious Life is a Dry Form

For fake Christians, church-going is just a meaningless thing to check off their weekly “To-Do List”
( Photo by Stefan Kunze on Unsplash )

We see the second sign of fake Christianity in Isaiah 58:

Yet they seek Me daily,
And delight to know My ways,
As a nation that did righteousness,
And did not forsake the ordinance of their God.
They ask of Me the ordinances of justice;
They take delight in approaching God.
‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and You have not seen?
Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?’
“In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure,
And exploit all your laborers.
Indeed you fast for strife and debate,
And to strike with the fist of wickedness.
You will not fast as you do this day,
To make your voice heard on high.

(Isaiah 58:2-4)

In the above verses, we see Israel doing all the right things. I mean, look at all the wonderful things they’re doing in verse 2:

  • They seek God everyday
  • They WANT to know His ways
  • They never forsook God’s laws
  • They ask for MORE of God & a knowledge of His will
  • They “delight” to approach God in prayer

Wow! Five spiritual exercises they were all doing! And six as well if you count all the fasting they did in verse 3!

But, God never accepted their seemingly zealous devotion.

Why?

In Volume 4 of the Seventh-Day Adventist Bible Commentary, we see the reason why:

“They [Israel] wanted all this world had to offer–and heaven too. They thought to enjoy the privileges of obedience [to God], but were loath to shoulder its responsibilities.”

–SDA Bible Commentary vol. 4 pg. 305–

So, basically, Israel was going through the motions of their religious worship to God (fasting, praying, obeying)–but all with the WRONG motivation!

And for you, dear reader, as you look back on your religious life, do you see any dry formalism weaved in there? Is your worship to God motivated by sincere, adoring love?

Or is it a fear of going to hell?
Or is it just because you “grew up” in church?
Or do you worship God because your parents have always forced you to?

Friend, if your motive to worship God, go to church, and be a Christian is motivated by either of the three above things, or something else entirely, your religious life will SURELY degenerate into a dry form.

Because that’s what happened to Israel. And it’s happening today…

So, what’s driving you to be a Christian? Is it genuine, sincere love for God?
Or something else?

Real Christians worship God out of sincere love for Him and have experienced for themselves His goodness in their personal lives.
Fake Christians worship God out of dry formalism, and have no sincere love for God–neither have they experienced His goodness in their personal lives.

3. You Follow the Pulpit, Not the Bible

Yes, pastors & their sermons have their place. But for fake Christians, pastors & their sermons are their ONLY source of spiritual nourishment.
( Photo by Miguel Henriques on Unsplash )

Here we’ll next see the third sign of being a fake Christian. It’s found in Isaiah 56:10–

His watchmen are blind,
They are all ignorant;
They are all dumb dogs,
They cannot bark;
Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

(Isaiah 56:10)

What does this verse mean? How does it apply to us? How does it apply to fake Christianity?

For Israel, their leaders were being irresponsible. They were being spiritually blind and spiritually ignorant.

And the very same thing is happening today.

Whether we know it or not, there are blind, ignorant, and fake Christian dogs who are “descendants” of the very wolves Paul mentioned in Acts 20:29-30!

But how does all this relate to knowing whether or not we’re fake Christians?

Let me give you an example from the Bible that may help “bridge” this idea of irresponsible leadership and fake Christianity.

An Example From Berea

The Bereans were real Christians–they took time to personally read God’s Word
( Photo by Priscilla Du Preez on Unsplash )

In the book of Acts, Paul and his buddy Silas go to a town in Greece called Berea. Verse 11 of Acts 17 gives us a beautiful picture of the people of Berea and their relation with the gospel when it was preached to them:

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

(Acts 17:11, emphasis added)

For the people of Berea, they personally took the time to read and search through God’s Word for themselves. They didn’t just simply rely on Paul and Silas’ preaching. Oh no, rather, they read the Bible “to find out whether these things [Paul’s preaching & Silas’ preaching] were so.”

Why would they do that?

Because, they knew it wasn’t always the best to just rely on the preaching of others for spiritual nourishment. After all, suppose either Paul or Silas preached things that went against God’s Word, would the people of Berea notice?

I’m sure they would, and they would’ve firmly followed the words of God rather than the words of man. I honestly just love how Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth and Dannah Gresh put it in their book Lies Young Women Believe:

The issue isn’t really what we think (or what you think) but what God thinks!

Lies young women BELIEVE page 41–

I mean, the underlining issue totally revolves around whether we’ll follow God’s words & thoughts or people’s words & thoughts. Because, friends, people’s words and ideas are not–even if it’s from a pastor–always biblically accurate. We must read God’s Word FOR OURSELVES every day, not just let a pastor read God’s Word FOR US every week.

Real Christians read and study God’s Word for themselves.
Fake Christians just listen to whatever is preached from the pulpit; they never read and study God’s Word for themselves.

4. You’re Spiritually Hungry all the Time

Only fake Christians continually indulge in the cakes of this world
( Photo by Henley Design Studio on Unsplash )

Now we’ve come to the fourth and final sign that shows whether or not you’re a fake Christian. In the first part of Isaiah 65:13, we read:

Therefore thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, My servants shall eat,
But you shall be hungry…”

(Isaiah 65:13)

Those who truly love God, adore Him, worship Him, and spend time in His Word have TRUE satisfaction!

I really like how a 17th century philosopher named Blaise Pascal put it:

“There is a God-shaped [hole] in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator.”

–Blaise Pascal–

For true Christians, they KNOW and UNDERSTAND this to be true! So, they’re never hungry for anything or anyone–because they know from experience that GOD IS ENOUGH! They never take their hunger to friends, social media, movies, TV shows, sports, or anything of that sort!

Instead, they’ve learned to PERSONALLY bring all their hungers, their brokenness, their struggles, and their discouragements to GOD and His HOLY WORD alone!

However, for fake Christians, they’re ALWAYS clamoring after something or someone to fill that hole in their heart.
So, they try to “eat” as many things as they can to fill up and satisfy the hole in themselves.

They fill their hole with friendships.
But they’re still hungry.

They fill their hole with entertainment.
But they’re still hungry.

They fill their hole with dating relationships.
But they’re still hungry.

They eat and they eat.
They consume and consume.
They chase and they chase after whatever things that the world promises will make them happy.

BUT…….the HUNGER is STILL there!

Real Christians are fed, filled, and satisfied
by God & His Holy Word.
Fake Christians are hungry, empty, and dissatisfied
by all the addictions they’re tied up in.

It’s Time To Drop The Fruit!

The first step to let go of fake Christianity is to drop the fruit of it
( Photo by Andrew Johnson on Unsplash )

Friend, if the Holy Spirit has convicted you that you’ve been a fake Christian, I wanna encourage you that you still have hope!

Christ died on the cross to SAVE sinful, fake Christians like you! Christ Himself said:

I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

(Luke 15:7)

Now is the day of salvation, dear reader!

TODAY you can repent of your fake Christianity, drop the fruit of wolfish deception you’ve been casually munching on, and run to the open loving arms of God!

If you desire to turn away from your fake Christian life and be transformed into a new, real, genuine Christian, then just pray:

I’d like to conclude this post with one of my favorite hymns. I pray that, as you listen to it in the video below, your heart will be moved with a desire to be a real, true, genuine Christian IN YOUR HEART.

Amen! Maranatha!

  1. Facing the battle of fear that I am apostate and reprobate everyday
Thoughts of going to hell ruminate
Was a fake believer all my life and now fear I am beyond redemption.
    Please keep me in prayer

    1. Good afternoon Andrew! I wanna encourage you to remember that you are never beyond redemption. Jesus assures us of this in the promise of John 6:37, which says: “whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” Jesus loves you, Andrew, and God the Father loves you so much that He gave His Son to die for you (John 3:16). He will never turn you away. Stay focused on His love for you. Jesus led you to my blog for a reason, so you can find hope and encouragement. I will keep you in my prayers. Never get discouraged, never give up, and continue to keep holding onto Jesus’ hand. He loves you and He will help you.

      Your sister in Christ,
      Aleah R.

    2. Thank you sister Aleah for keeping me in prayer. Battles remain where thoughts that I am hopeless and worthless remains
Cringing now in great suffering mentally and emotionally.
Please when you always can, keep me in prayer
Blessings to you and your ministry

    3. Good morning brother Andrew! I want to encourage you to always remember that Jesus loves you and that He is always by your side, holding your hand. He promised to do this here in Isaiah 41:13, which says:
For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Jesus is always there to help you, brother Andrew. Whenever you find yourself battling and struggling with thoughts of feeling hopeless and worthless, I wanna encourage you to remember the promise of Isaiah 41:13– For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee..

Continue to go over this promise in your mind. Meditate over it, memorize it, go over it again and again. It is through Bible promises like this that we gain strength to overcome and win the battles of negative thoughts in our minds.

I also wanna share with you a simple prayer you may pray along with the Bible verse that I just shared with you. You can pray:

Dear Lord, I feel hopeless and worthless right now. I submit my helpless soul to You. Please help me to place my thoughts on Jesus. Thank You for Your promise in Isaiah 41:13 that You will hold my hand and help me, so please hold my hand right now and help me to overcome these negative thoughts and feelings. Please heal my mind and heart, for You are my Great Healer and Great Physician. Teach me to love You, to trust You, and to find all my hope in You.
      In Jesus’ Name, Amen

And again, I’ll continue to uplift you in prayer my brother. You may reach out and email me at learning.to.live.blogministry@gmail.com if you have any questions or just want to open up more. I’ll be more than happy to help you, my dear brother.

But always remember that your ultimate Help is Jesus. He is always there to reach out and hold your hand when you need it.

Hugs and Prayers from your sister and friend in Christ,
      Aleah

  2. Hello, I feel like a fake christian. I try not to think about lustful thoughts such as porn etc. But I keep going back to it even though I try to stop. When I pray after I sin or pray to not sin I do not feel like I am being sincere. I try my hardest not to do it again but I do anyway and pray for forgiveness. I also tell myself Im going to read the bible but almost never do or only read it a little. I do not want to pray for the wrong reasons such as being scared of going to hell. I know it says in James 1:23 and 26:

“For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror”
“If anyone among you thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but decieves his own heart this ones religion is useless.”

I tell myself to not be tempted or to not worry or to have fear but I feel like I am trapped in my own mind telling myself I am going to fail anyway so why bother praying if you dont really mean it and keep torturing myself about it. Anyway if you read and respond to this thank you.

    1. Hi David! Thanks for the comment, and I REALLY wanna apologize for taking so long to respond. I didn’t see your comment until now. I just wanna first off say that I will keep you in my prayers and have added you to my prayer list. I just want to let you know that Jesus loves you so much, and that the Holy Spirit led you to my blog. You didn’t come here by accident. God knows you long to be healed and to be set free from your own struggles. One thing you have to know is that the power to be set free from all sins and addictions is found in Jesus. Philippians 2:13 tells us: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Each morning, surrender your will to the Lord, ask Him for the Holy Spirit to lead and to guide you. I have included some Bible promises below that you can go over them, so you can fortify your mind against temptation. The Lord will give you the desire to read your Bible as you learn to surrender to Him each day.

Now I will break his yoke from your necks and snap the chains that bind you. (Nahum 1:13)

He brought them out of darkness and gloom and broke their chains apart. (Psalm 107:14)

But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:13)

God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. (2 Samuel 22:33)

I also wanna recommend watching a video from one of my favorite Christian YouTube ministries where they talk about how to effectively overcome porn addiction, you can watch it here if you’re interested: https://youtu.be/IRBYaUsf_ik?t=5.

I wanna encourage you to always remember that Jesus is always walking with you on this journey. He died to give you the victory, and He will see to it that you will completely overcome. “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6).

Keeping you in my prayers, always, with love from your friend and sister in Christ,
      Aleah R. ?

    2. David, I hear your voice. Your name is strong, ‘to be loved’, and undeniable.
Sin after prayer is what humans do more than you think. The cycle is so vicious that we often pray in the middle of our sin…how do we break it?

First, never stop praying. Your words have not fallen on deaf ears. In fact, God is delighted to hear from you all the time….anytime. Second, you are not a liar, though all of us have lied, you may make a covenant with God.

A covenant is much stronger than asking for forgiveness, and many people find greater success with a covenant. I can help, a little, if you simply try the method I use below:

      1. Use short-term covenants to build your confidence in keeping your word. If your addiction is so strong you need to indulge every hour or every four hours…make a covenant to get over the addiction’s frequency.
*A day can turn into a few days; a week; a month; 2,3,4,5,6 months; a year. You just need to keep your word above your frequency which allows you to keep your word with God.
      2. Ask God in a private setting. Let God know you are willing to do anything to stop your addiction -“I want to please you God.”
      3. No celebrations or rewards…Just go with it. Go with God.
In my personal life, I started my journey over addictions by asking God for help. Each hour, day, and every moment after my covenant we had a conversation. I felt so released that I quickly made an extended promise…and that worked. Then, after much success, I made a covenant that covers the remaining time of my life.
DO you not think God was pleased? I can see God pointing at me to the angels…picture that…be the example that God can use in someone else’s life.

Lastly, prayer changes everything, even if we fail at trying. You just need to remember that through Jesus we have already won. Just show him how well you can keep your promise. His promise is unbreakable.

    3. I think I’m a fake Christian too.
I have depression which ranges from mild to suicidal on a regular basis so I often feel I have no desire to talk to God or go to church which is a place that makes me feel anxious. I’m dyslexic and don’t enjoy reading the Bible because I just don’t seem to get much out of it. I don’t seem intellectual enough to think deeply about it.
I’ve been going to church for 13 years and never been able to make friends. Now I know why – it’s because I’m not a part of God’s family.
I find it hard to let go of my dreams for my life and don’t really want to sacrifice them especially as my dreams seem good (getting married and having my own family, having friends and building a nice home to nurture in). So I dunno. I don’t want to go to hell but I can’t get to God on my own either. So I feel lost and stuck.

    4. Good morning Lauren! First off, I wanna remind you that Jesus loves you, and He understands what you’re struggling with right now.

I also wanna let you know that I added you to my prayer list, and will be uplifting you in my prayers.

I really wanna also recommend that you check out these two videos from a very helpful Christian ministry. These videos talk about how to overcome depression from a Biblical standpoint. I hope and pray that these videos will be encouraging to you.

Here’s the links to the videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d31n8-GXdCA&list=PL5PRBmfLF47VV850OA3I_RjbLMnkj5iz2&index=7&pp=iAQB

The Lord led you to my blog, so you can find hope. And that’s what this devotional blog is all about, dear sister……if you still need any help or have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Keeping you in my prayers! Jesus loves you!

  3. i have been a fake Christhian and now that i know the truth, I need spiritual guidance in knowing God, Jesus and Holy Spirit and want to lean on them every day, therefore please help me,

    1. Hi Berry! Thanks for your comment ?. Praise the Lord that you have a desire to know God More and His truth!

As for help in your spiritual journey with the Lord, I’d like to recommend several resources that I pray will be beneficial to you. First, my blog had some digital Bible study guides that cover different topics like faith, joy, trials, etc. You may check them out through the following link: https://learningtolivesdablog.com/bible-study-guides/

Also, there’s a Christian YouTube channel that I have been personally blessed by that has short 5 minute Bible study videos that cover topics like humility and how to study the Bible for yourself. Here’s the link to it: https://m.youtube.com/@biblevideo

I just added you to my prayer list and I pray that God will lead you closer to Him through these resources ???!

Love and Prayers from your sister and friend in Christ,
      Aleah R.

    2. Berry, take a small moment of your leisure time and read John 3:16. First, thank God for answering your prayers. Then, read the scripture word for word as slowly as possible. Understand the meaning of every word, and every intent.
“For God so loved the world” – find out what it truly means then move on
I discovered those words as a child when opening a bible with pure curiosity. God’s love directed me to the very foundation of faith, love, and hope.
Then, move on to the first paragraph of Psalm 23. “The lord is my shepherd, I shall not want…”
I discovered the meaning at the age of 28. God knows you and will always be there waiting on you to do something he already knows you can and will do.

  4. I’m sorry I’m a wicked person I didn’t listen and I don’t listen I really need correction and prayers I’m sorry I feel like a failure like I’ll never be able to do the right things I’ve fallen away I’m I don’t know what else to do I know I thought I had everything under control but I don’t and now have a feeling I’ll never be forgiven I’m sorry I really I’m scared and I feel alone like I failed my parents and my family because of the decisions I e made im sorry

    1. Hi Jersey!

Please know that I have, am, and will continue to keep you in prayer! I wanna encourage you with a quote from one of my favorite Christian authors, and I hope and pray that it will give you the hope and encouragement that you need right now. Here’s the quote:

Jesus knows the circumstances of every person. You may say, “I am sinful, very sinful.” You may be; but the worse you are, the more you need Jesus. He turns no weeping, repentant one away. He freely pardons everyone who comes to Him for forgiveness and restoration.

Those who turn to Him for refuge, Christ unites to His own divine-human nature. No human being or evil angel can condemn them. They stand beside the great Sin Bearer in the light streaming from the throne of God. “Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” Romans 8:33, 34.

I will email you today with some more encouragement as well as a resource that, I believe, can benefit you spiritually.

Keeping you in prayer, Jersey! Stay strong in Jesus and keep focusing on His love for you! Always remember that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5)❣️

    2. Thank you so much you’ve encouraged me so much, so much to where I NEED to GET UP. God sent me a very blessed and kind and loving Church to go to and I know God has blessed me with you and every person that He has sent to me in this life. Please pray that I confess my failings and may I ask? That you pray that my heart be opened Thank you so much God bless you more

    3. Praise the Lord, Jersey! Yes, will definitely continue to keep you in my prayers ??!

    4. Jersey, let us know how things are going. You should continue to reach out it helps everyone when you do.
Your family is important to you, and you are important to them. The evidence that it is never too late to repent (to reach out to God) is clearly written…‘Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise’” (Luke 23:39-43).
Take a moment and read Luke 23. Feel better. Lighten your heart. Let God know how thankful you are for sending his son to save you (me, us). Then wait for your God Shift…this is when it seems that things cannot get any worse. It is then that you will see one set of footprints on your path where God will carry you through these times.

  5. Hi it’s me Jersey again Im lost and I’m not sure how to get back up I’ve been dragging myself back through the path God took away from this life everytime I try I always fall and I can’t find a way to open my heart I feel that time is ticking far too fast for me in this life I’m 17 and I have a huge and very concerning situation that will break my family because of my past choices and mistakes and failures I feel that no one will ever understand but God he is the only one that will and could explain the situation better than me but I have to because I have to take accountability for my actions. I’m just scared and I’ve had so much fear and I can’t seem to open to God about all that I’ve done these past months I truly need help please can you pray for me

    1. Good evening, Jersey! My heart really goes out to you and the situation you’re facing right now.

I want to let you know that I’m praying for you and have been praying for you. I want to encourage you to know that Jesus loves you, He has a plan for you, and He is your True Source of hope.

I also want to encourage you with several Bible promises. It’s my sincere hope and prayer that God will speak His love, hope, and peace to your heart as you go over these Bible promises:

Even though our inner thoughts may condemn us with storms of guilt and constant reminders of our failures, we can know in our hearts that in His presence God Himself is greater than any accusation. He knows all things.
      (1 John 3:20 VOICE)

Trust in Him at all times, O people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a safe place for us.
      (Psalm 62:8 NLV)

For God did not give us a spirit of fear. He gave us a spirit of power and of love and of a good mind.
      (2 Timothy 1:7 NLV)

I will cover you with my hands and protect you.
      (Isaiah 51:16 NCV)

But if we confess our sins to him, he can be depended on to forgive us and to cleanse us from every wrong. And it is perfectly proper for God to do this for us because Christ died to wash away our sins.
      (1 John 1:9 TLB)

The Lord holds up all who fall. He raises up all who are brought down.
      (Psalm 145:14 NLV)

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
      (Psalm 118:6 NKJV)

God comforts people who are discouraged
      (2 Corinthians 7:6 CEB)

My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
      (Psalm 73:26 NKJV)

These Bible promises are spiritual food that will give you the strength and the support that you need.

Jersey, I wanna again encourage you to read over these Bible verses and take time to think over them whenever you feel down or discouraged.

Jesus loves you greatly, Jersey! I’m keeping you in my prayers! I wanna encourage you to always remember that you’re a child of the King!

    2. I will keep, read, think and pray these verses everyday followed by the Lord’s prayer and try to make Good choices according to God’s word I really need to take control of what I can control and the rest I need to give them to God. When I fear anything I will read over these bible verses everyday. I thank Jesus for you may God bless you so much ? Thank you.

    3. Praise the Lord, Jersey!
I am and will continue to pray for you! Whenever you feel down, remember that I’m uplifting you in prayer!

Stay strong in the Lord! ??

  6. Hi. I’m pretty worried that I’m a fake. My life is all about me and I hate that. My life needs to be all about God. There are times when I’m really moved by God’s love for me but I feel like I’m a fake deep down. I’ve been motivated by God’s glory but I’m not feeling that motivation right now. I’m pretty frustrated. I’ve prayed and asked and prayed some more but I’m frustrated. My pastors point to evidences of grace in my life but I still feel like a fake. I’m not motivated by love for God and I should be. I’m motivated by fear of not keeping his commands like I should.

    1. Hi Zack! I hope and pray you’re having a blessed Thanksgiving season so far.

Anyway, I would like to encourage you with this Bible promise in 2 Timothy 1:7, which says:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Only God can give you the power and the love to follow Him.

I also wanna encourage you with Proverbs 3:5–

      Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

God loves you, and He wants to give you His power and love to follow Him!

But the key truth that I wanna encourage you with is that you are to TRUST HIM to give you that power and love, not to trust in your feelings or “your own understanding” as the verse puts it.

John 1:29 says: “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” And Hebrews 12:2 (NLV) says: “Let us keep looking to Jesus. Our faith comes from Him and He is the One Who makes it perfect.”

Zack, I’m sharing these Bible promises to encourage you to fix your eyes on Jesus, look to HIM instead of your emotions.
Put your trust and faith in Him, because 1 John 5:4 says that “This is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

And if you’re honestly struggling to have faith and trust in God, then I wanna encourage you with another Bible promise in 2 Timothy 2:13, which says:

If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

I also wanna share with you a couple practical resources from Learning To Live that can help you better understand what it means to have genuine faith and trust in God. I just added you to my prayer list. Keeping you in my prayers always!

Always remember that Jesus LOVES you!

      Blessings,
      Aleah

  7. I have been away from God for a long time and I have put everything above God I fulfilled the desires of My flesh food, money, my parents as idols social media, I even had Christian friends that I really thought I thought that everything is okay but I lost those friends because I was a false Christian and because I was lying and stealing and still fulfilling My flesh like I wasn’t saying my heart is hardened I’m going through a very concerning and horrible situation but all I’ve been thinking about is myself and this situation how it’s going to go and I haven’t been loving and being kind like I’m supposed to I have lied many many times and I feel that Jesus won’t accept me and I know that he loves me but I feel empty that I have lost all spiritual growth..

    1. Hi Jersey!
I just wanna encourage you to know that God led you to this blog post for a reason, and that reason is so you can find hope in the following Bible promises God is impressing me to share with you right now.

Jesus loves you, Jersey! And He wants you to find hope from these Bible promises and be encouraged!

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. (John 6:37)

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Mark 2:17)

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
      (Isaiah 41:10)

Remember that whenever you feel down, I wanna encourage you to to go over these Bible promises. Read them and think about them. Remember that in Jesus there is hope. He loves you so much. Please know that I put you down on my prayer list and I am keeping you in my prayers.

Love, hugs, and prayers from your sister & friend in Christ,
      Aleah

      (Isaiah 41:10 CEB)

I also wanna encourage you with another Bible promise in Isaiah 41:13–

I am the Lord your God. I am holding your hand, so don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.
      (Isaiah 41:13 CEV)

  8. Dear believers, I did not realise I was a fake believer until about 2 years ago. I am now 62 years old and terrified I am not a true believer, born again. My heart is hardened beyond repentance if I have led life in idolatrous and did not give God the highest place in my life. It was all about me and not God.. Thoughts about giving up on life Everyday are dominant as I now hate myself and life for being what it is. I am completely lost and in darkness and fear that God will not want me as I am a reprobate and apostate

    1. Hi Brother Andrew!

I really prayed that God would show me what to share with you, so you may find HOPE for what you’re struggling with, and God impressed me to share with you the lyrics of a song my pastor wrote. I pray as you read the lyrics, your heart will be filled with the love and hopeful encouragement of Jesus!

I’ll be keeping you in my prayers and I’ll put you down on my prayer list! ?

Never lose hope and never give up! Jesus loves you, brother Andrew! He died to save you! These are His words to you in John 6:37— “him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

Here’s the lyrics of my pastor’s song, along with a little commentary from him about it. May you be blessed, and I’ll be praying for you!

Those who, 2,000 years ago, would have seen Jesus when He was on the cross, would have had to look up, just as the Israelites bitten by the deadly serpents would have done 1,500 years before that. Today, amidst the confusion and perplexities of our planet, we need to look up. All around us are things that bring stress and anxiety, but in Jesus, there is hope. No matter what our circumstances are, Jesus has the answer, but we must “look to Him.”

      Look To Him

When your burden’s hard to bear
Look to Him, look to Him
When it seems that no one cares
Look to Him, look to Him

Look to Him when things go wrong
Look to Him with days are long
Look to Him when all your skies turn gray
Look to Him when friends depart
Look to Him when faint of heart
Look to Him, look to Him
Look to Him, look to Him

When the path of life is steep
Look to Him, look to Him
When the stain of sin is deep
Look to Him, look to Him

Look to Him when things go wrong
Look to Him with days are long
Look to Him when all your skies turn gray
Look to Him when friends depart
Look to Him when faint of heart
Look to Him, look to Him
Look to Him, look to Him

When the path of life is steep
Look to Him, look to Him
When the stain of sin is deep
Look to Him, look to Him

Look to Him when things go wrong
Look to Him with days are long
Look to Him when all your skies turn gray
Look to Him when friends depart
Look to Him when faint of heart
Look to Him, look to Him
Look to Him, look to Him

    1. Praise the Lord Aunty! It’s such a blessing to see how the Holy Spirit is using this blog ministry to bless so many people. All glory goes to Jesus for commissioning me to do this! I love you Aunty! Hope you have a blessed day! ?????

  9. We must pray for the Holy Spirit to guide us every time we open the Bible, so that we can be Bible based Christians. We need to open our Bibles daily and to let Jesus lead us to be genuine Christians in our hearts ?

  10. Being a Christian means a follower of Christ, the anointed one. How does one know that, he is not following Christ? “Thy way oh God, is in thy sanctuary” Psalm 77.13. Jesus said, “I am the way the truth and the life, no one goes the the father, accept by me”_ John 14.6. God told, the children of Israel to make a sanctuary so he can dwell among the. Exodus 25-35. The articles in the sanctuary points to Jesus. The unblemished lamb, the lever of water, the high priest, the door, the ten, alter of incense, the seven branch candlestick, the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat. When Jesus was sent to this earth, he was the sanctuary personified. In fact, Revelation 21.22. says, John looked up and saw no temple, the temple was the Lord Almighty and the Lamb. I pray that, the Holy spirit enlightens us more on the Jesus Christ. In 1 John 4.1, John says to test the spirits if they are from God. How do we test the spirits or character? Check the sanctuary. See Hebrews 9.2-5

    1. Amen and Amen brother Vincent! I totally agree! The sanctuary is definitely a beautiful illustration of our Savior and the life He is calling us as Christians to live! ?

Hope and pray you have a blessed day with Jesus! ??
