One morning I saw this empty Gatorade bottle lying on the ground.
When I saw it, I began to imagine a time where this Gatorade bottle was probably valued by someone.
Back before when it was filled with thirst-quenching, energizing liquid, a person–maybe some skilled athlete–would continually turn to this Gatorade bottle and drink down its contents as an essential life-dependence.
But now it’s empty.
And the minute this poor Gatorade bottle became empty, it was discarded.
Tossed to the ground, never to be used nor appreciated ever again.
A Divine Contrast
But friend, God is not like that empty Gatorade bottle.
In John 4:14, Jesus said:
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
(John 4:14)
And in Psalm 36:9, David wrote:
For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
(Psalm 36:9)
Lastly, in Isaiah 44:3, God Himself promised:
For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
(Isaiah 44:3)
Unlike the Gatorade bottle, the Lord God Almighty is a LIVING FOUNTAIN of LIVING WATER that will NEVER run dry!
He will NEVER run out of the life-giving, thirst-quenching liquid your soul needs, dear reader!
A Prayer
Dear reader, would you like to step away from the spiritual Gatorade bottles that the world offers, and turn to the truly thirst-quenching fountain of life that is found in God?
If so, then I wanna encourage you to just pray:
I’d like to conclude this blog post with a beautiful song called There Is A River.
As you listen to it below, it’s my prayer that this song will inspire your heart even more to turn to Jesus to satisfy your thirsts–not the spiritual Gatorade bottles of this world.
Amen! Maranatha!
