Now that we’ve reached the eighth and final part of our series on studying present truth, let’s look at the final Biblical truth that will help us prepare for Christ’s second coming!
What Is Sagacity?
Cambridge Dictionary defines the word “sagacity” to mean:
the quality of having or showing understanding and the ability to make good judgments:
This definition reminds me of Ephesians 1:18, which says:
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(Ephesians 1:18)
The word “enlighten” in this verse means “make to see.”
So, God wants our “eyes of understanding” to be basically opened so He can make us see something.
But what does He want us to see?
Who He Sees We Are
We find the answer to that question in Revelation 3:14-18. It says:
14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
(Revelation 3:14-18)
The word “knowest” in verse 17 surprisingly means “see” or “understand.”
In other words, God SEES our true condition (being wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked).
But WE DON’T see nor understand our own spiritual wretchedness, misery, poverty, blindness, and nakedness.
So God must lovingly step into the door of our hearts (Revelation 3:20) when we surrender to Him and let Him in (like what we learned in Part 6 of this series).
Then, He must purify our eyes from the sins that are blinding us from seeing our true condition (just as we learned in Part 7).
And finally, once we’re cleansed from the mud of sin that’s been covering our eyes and understanding, we can then accept Christ’s remedies to HEAL our spiritually wretched state.
These remedies are found in verse 18:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
(Revelation 3:18)
A Prayer
Friend, would you like to surrender to Jesus, allow Him to come into your heart to cleanse you from your blinding sins, and be healed by His remedies of gold, white raiment, and eyesalve?
If so, then I wanna encourage you, dear reader, to simply pray:
Amen! Maranatha!
