Living Victoriously

It’s something we experience at some point in life.

Failure.

As human beings, we may end up failing at a variety of things.

It could be something as small as failing at painting the most beautiful sunset; or as big as failing a crucial test.

No matter who we are, or where we live, failure is the thing that is always haunting us.

Even in our spiritual lives as Christians.

Is There Hope Beyond Failure?

Since failure is such an integrated part of daily life, can there be any way to rise above it?

Is it possible to live a victorious life, or do we just have to face the fact that we’ll keep on failing over and over again with no hope to ever overcome?

Well, on a spiritual and religious level, it IS possible to overcome; it IS possible to live victoriously; it IS possible to quit failing in our spiritual and religious experience!

But how?

3 Steps To Living Victoriously

Below is a basic, practical, and Bible-based way to overcome sin and live a freshly victorious life in Jesus Christ!

STEP 1: Spend

In Psalm 119:11, it says:

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”

(Psalm 119:11 NKJV)

According to this verse, we must have God’s Word “hidden” in our hearts.

But how  do we  hide God’s Word in our hearts?

By spending time reading His word; asking God to send His Holy Spirit to soften our hearts and make them porous enough to absorb Scriptural truths He leads us to read.

There is a beautiful Bible promise to meditate on and pray over to truly achieve this step:

“Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God”

 (Ezekiel 11:19-20 NKJV)

STEP 2: Surrender

In Psalm 17:5 we read something beautiful that David prayed to God:

“Uphold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip.”

(Psalm 17:5 NKJV)

On a practical level, we need to depend on God to “uphold” us from spiritual and religious failure.

We must pray and surrender ourselves wholly to God, asking Him to implant within us a desire to be upheld by Him.

Because, naturally as human beings, we DO NOT want help. However, Jesus said “for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Without asking for Christ’s help, without surrendering to His upholding hand, we are sure to fail.

STEP 3: Serve

Proverbs 19:17 says:

“He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, And He will pay back what he has given.”

(Proverbs 19:17 NKJV)

The third and final step on how to live a victorious life is to serve.

According to the verse we just looked at, Proverbs 19:17, when we show pity to those who are less fortunate and help them, we’re lending “to the Lord.”

And God will “pay back” what we’ve given to help the poor, not only in the form of physical blessings, but also in the form of giving us strength to overcome and live victoriously in Him!

But What If I Fail Again?

Despite our best efforts to live a victorious life, there are times where we may end up failing.

And friend, I understand how discouraging it is to find yourself failing in spite of best intentions.

Perhaps right now you’re struggling deep in your heart with discouragement, guilt, shame, and bitter sadness over feeling like you’ve failed so badly in your Christian experience.

But I want to encourage you today that there’s still hope for you to get back up again. The Bible gives a beautiful, encouraging promise:

“The Lord upholds all who fall, And raises up all who are bowed down.”

(Psalm 145:14)

God wants to raise you out of the muddy pit of sin and help you live victoriously.

Why not ask Him right now to raise you up and to help you spend time with Him, surrender to Him, and serve Him today?

A Prayer

Amen! Maranatha!
