A few days ago I was putting my Bible away, and suddenly I got a bad, deep cut on my thumb.
To help alleviate the pain, I applied some tea tree oil to the wound.
A Few Days Later…
As I continued applying tea tree oil to the cut over the next few days, I noticed something.
The wound on my thumb that was once big and deep was now becoming small and shallow.
And it was all because of the tea tree oil!
A Spiritual Lesson…
Luke 4:18 is one Bible verse that reveals what oil is spiritually symbolic of:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
(Luke 4:18)
Strong’s Definition define the Greek word “anoint” in Luke 4:18 to mean “to smear or rub with oil.” A spiritual lesson we can take from this is that in the same way the physical tea tree oil healed and shrunk the once painful, giant cut on my thumb, so it is that the spiritual oil of the Holy Spirit can help heal and shrink our own painful, giant spiritual wounds!
It is no wonder, then, why Jesus calls the Holy Spirit the Comforter!
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
(John 14:26)
And Isaiah 57:18 reveals the beautiful connection between healing and comfort!
I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
(Isaiah 57:18)
So, the Holy Spirit heals and comforts the spiritually wounded!
