I honestly don’t know how he got it, but my poor cat, Blacko, had a bad wound on his leg.
My family did all that we could to help the wound get better, but instead, it just got worst.
A Visit To The Great Veterinarian
One day during family worship, Mom uplifted the situation with Blacko’s worsening wound to God in prayer. Claiming James 1:5, Mom prayed:
“Lord, we don’t know what to do with our cat’s wound. So, Father, we claim James 1:5 today, which says: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Father, I pray that You’ll fulfill this promise for us, and give us the wisdom we need on how to deal with Blacko’s wound. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Mom then said, in faith, that the Lord will answer our prayer in three days.
Three Days Later…
Fast forward three days later, Mom excitedly told me what happened.
“Aleah! Guess what!” She said.
“What?” I asked.
“The Lord impressed me to use the powder inside the olive leaf extract capsules, and to mix it with water to make it into a poultice!” Mom explained. “I just applied the poultice to Blacko’s wound!’
“Wow, Mom,” I said. “Did it work?”
“Well, again, I just put it on Blacko’s wound today,” Mom replied. “But it seems to be acting pretty effectively. Just continue to pray for our cat’s wound, okay?”
“Okay, Mom!”
Several Days Later…
As you can see from the above image, my cat’s wound is now looking much better than before!
And it was all because we simply took the issue of Blacko’s wound “to the Lord in prayer,” as the old hymn goes!
To GOD be the glory!
The Lesson Behind The Story
Unlike the first time my cat was made a matter of prayer, God chose to heal my cat’s wound over a period of time.
And there’s a key lesson that, I believe, we as Christians can learn from that.
In Psalm 38:5, we read:
That word “foolishness” comes from an unused Hebrew root word that means “to be perverse.”
What does it mean “to be perverse?”
I believe the New Living Translation’s take on Proverbs 10:32 can help answer that question:
That reminds me of Jesus’ words in Luke 6:
How does all this apply to us?
Wounds & Waiting
For many of us as Christians, we may feel deeply wounded in our hearts over the wounds of wickedness and sin in our souls.
And we pray to the Lord about our spiritual wounds and even claim Bible promises for a speedy healing.
But we feel like the wounds are still “foul and festering,” as David put it in Psalm 38:5!
Dear reader, just like it took awhile for my cat’s wound to heal, so God allows the spiritual wounds in our hearts to take time to heal.
Why?
This verse in Revelation tells us one reason why:
As God allows our wounds to take time to heal, He is trying to teach us a lesson that every one of His End Time saints need to learn.
The lesson of patience.
