One Big Symptom of Lukewarm Christianity

Recently I started reading the King James Version of the Bible.

And in the KJV Bible that I have, there’s a little footnote section at the very bottom, at the end of 1 Timothy 6, and it says:

“The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.”

Phrygia Pacatiana was a province in Asia Minor where Laodicia (and the well-known “lukewarm church” of Laodicea) was prominently located.

What is the spiritual meaning and spiritual lesson we can get from this?

Dry

First off, that first part of the name–Phrygia–means “barren, dry.”

As for the second part of the name–Pacatiana–the meaning of it is mostly unknown. So, in that case, let’s just focus on the name Phrygia, which means “dry, barren.”

What does “barren” mean?

According to one dictionary, that word “barren” is defined as “fruitless, unprofitable, empty.”

What can we learn from this?

Dry & Lukewarm

In the same way Laodicea was a prominent city containing a lukewarm church that was located in a province with a name that means “barren” and “dry,” so it could be that spiritual barrenness, spiritual dryness, spiritual fruitlessness, and spiritual unprofitability are prominent, overarching symptoms of lukewarm Christianity in the heart!

Hope For The Dry & Lukewarm

But praise the Lord, dear reader, for God’s promises in Isaiah 44:3 and Isaiah 48:17, where He will pour out His life-giving Spirit on our dry, lukewarm hearts and will teach us to profit fruitfully in following Him!

“For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:”

(Isaiah 44:3)

“Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.”

(Isaiah 48:17)

Would you like to experience that, dear reader?

If so, then just pray the following prayer below:

I’d like to conclude this blog post with one of my favorite Christian songs from my all-time favorite Christian musician. As you listen to this song below, it’s my hope and prayer that it will inspire you even more for more of the raindrops of God’s Holy Spirit to soak your barren, lukewarm heart today!

Amen! Maranatha!
