Don’t Forget Your Peace Shoes!

This might sound a little weird, but today–December 6–is “Put On Your Own Shoes Day.”

According to DaysOfTheYear.com, Put On Your Own Shoes Day is considered to be a yearly celebration of:

  • Walking your own way in life
  • Encouraging young children to tie their own shoes
  • Observing the benefits and style of shoes

So, for today’s blog post, let’s take a minute to study a certain type of shoe that the Bible encourages us to put on!

In Ephesians 6:15, we read:

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace

(Ephesians 6:15)

What does that mean exactly?

Well, I kinda like how the NOG version puts this verse:

Put on your shoes so that you are ready to spread the Good News that gives peace.

(Ephesians 6:15 NOG)

Other translations, like the NLT, mention having these “shoes” of Gospel peace so we may “be fully prepared.”

For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.

(Ephesians 6:15 NLT)

Fully prepared for what?

Why, fully prepared and ready to share and spread the Gospel, of course!

Peter puts it like this in 1 Peter 3:15–

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

(1 Peter 3:15)

A Prayer To Share!

Dear friend, would you like to ask God to prepare and ready you to share His Good News of hope and peace today–especially as we enter another holiday season?

If so, then I wanna encourage you to pray:

I wanna close out this blog post with a promise that you may claim along with the above prayer.

That promise is Psalm 26:7, and it says–

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

(Psalm 26:7)

Amen! Maranatha!
