How To Go From Delusion To Discernment (Pt. 3)

Romans 5:5 says:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

(Romans 5:5)

In part 2 of our series, we learned that the second step to go from delusion to discernment is to surrender our carnal love for deception & delusion.

And Romans 5:5 makes it clear that The Holy Spirit is the One Who “replaces” our carnal love for delusion with God’s supernatural love for His Bible truth.

John 16:13 adds another layer to the Holy Spirit’s role in our growth in discernment:

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

(John 16:13)

The Holy Spirit is the One Who not only GIVES us love for truth, but also LEADS us into truth.

And two other verses in the book of John clearly reveal what (and even Who) truth is.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

(John 17:17)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(John 14:6)

The third and final step to truly go from delusion to discernment is to HAVE The Holy Spirit in our hearts to guide us and direct us deeper into truth, and to ultimately discern truth.

The Legacy Standard Bible version of Exodus 31:3 makes this key point vividly clear:

And I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in discernment, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship,

(Exodus 31:3 LSB)

It’s Ephesians 1:17-18, and it says:

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
