Let Us Hear (Pt. 2: Which Audio Scripture App Should I Use?)

Picking up from where we left off in part 1, let’s now dig into my review of three audio Scripture apps you may use to better help enhance your devotional Bible reading!

But before we dive in, I’d like to clarify two things:

  1. I’m an Android phone user, so the apps I’ll be going over are–to my knowledge–available in the Google Play Store, but I’m not sure if they’re available in the App Store (with the exception of the third option).
  2. All the apps I’ll be going over in this review post are KJV because that’s the translation I personally use.

App #1: Dramatized Audio Bible KJV

This is the first app that I tried, and I must say that the UI is pretty nice!

What I Liked About It

For one thing, what I really liked about the app is that you can easily select which specific chapter you would like to read.

Another thing that I enjoyed from this app is that not only can you pick specific chapters, but each chapter has its own heading title, so you know what the selected chapter is about.

Below is an example of what I mean:

The dramatized audio quality and narration is pretty good, and the narrator’s voice is also calming ?.

Another interesting thing about this app is that it comes with its own AI Bible chat.

To be honest, I tried it, and it seems to be an okay tool to use as long as you don’t let it replace the Holy Spirit!

Because, after all, Jesus Himself said that The Holy Spirit is the One Who is supposed to guide us into all truth, not AI.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

(John 16:13)

What I Didn’t Like About The App

There were three things that I honestly didn’t like about the Dramatized Audio Bible KJV app.

First off, the dramatized audio Scripture narration for some reason reads in New King James Version rather than King James Version.

Secondly, the app has ads–including some annoying Tik Tok video ads that could be potentially distracting for your morning devotional time with God.

And thirdly, the audio narration in this Bible app skips that parts in the Bible that say “he said” or “she said” and just goes straight to what the Bible character is saying.

Because of this weird aspect of the app, it’s probably better used as a “listening only” option than something you can listen to and read along with.

My honest overall rating for the Dramatized Audio Bible KJV app is:

FOUR STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐

App #2: Beloved Bible

This is the second app that I tried, and let my just say that I had a ROCKY experience with it.

What I Liked About It

There’s only one nice thing I liked about this app, and that was the fact that it came with various devotionals and other nice Bible Study content.

What I Didn’t Like About The App

This app was one of the strangest Bible apps I’ve ever used.

When I got the app set up, it strangely came with its own politically-saturated news feed.

Another strange thing about this app was that for some reason when I tried selecting a certain chapter to listen to (in my case it was Psalm 144), it STILL stayed on Genesis chapter 1 no matter how many times I tried tapping on Psalm 144!

Now, as for the Bible audio, it’s not dramatized but the narrator’s voice is okay (although it’s honestly a bit dry compared to the first and third app).

My honest overall rating for Beloved Bible is:

ONE STAR ⭐

App #3: Dramatized Audio- KJV

This app is honestly my go-to app for perfectly beautiful and engaging dramatized audio Scripture for my own personal devotions! ?

What I Liked About The App

The UI is simple and straightforward.

The app also sends daily notifications for Bible verses and devotionals to read.

And the audio quality for the dramatized Bible narration and voice acting is really great and very engaging!

What I Don’t Like About The App

My only complaint toward this app is that there are ads, but thankfully they’re not as intrusive as some of the ones on the Dramatized Audio Bible KJV.

So, my honest overall rating for this app is:

FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Conclusion

If you’re someone who reads KJV and wants an engaging Audio Scripture app to listen to as you read God’s Word, then Dramatized Audio – KJV is the app to use!
