One Future

One time I had a friend who said that my future was going to be dark and bleak. I didn’t understand why she said that–but what I did understand was that her opinion about my future hurt me.

Later on, before I did my evening devotions, I prayed about my friend’s statement to God.

“Lord, what my friend said really hurt me,” I prayed. “Please comfort me and encourage me through Your Holy Word.”

Forever Standing

After I finished praying, I opened my Bible, and I ended up reading Psalm 33:11–

The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
The plans of His heart to all generations.

(Psalm 33:11)

I just stared at that verse, wondering–
What does this have to do with what I’m going through?

Then I realized that it is GOD’S PLANS for me that will ALWAYS STANDnot the opinions of others.

God’s Opinion

Even though some people like my friend may believe that my future is dark, that DOES NOT mean God’s future for me is dark. After all, God’s Word says–

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
(Jeremiah 29:11)

But the path of the just is like the shining sun,
That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.

(Proverbs 4:18)

God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
(1 John 1:5)

There are many plans in a man’s heart,
Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.
(Proverbs 19:21)

So, dear reader, in both your life and my life, it is NOT human opinions that will determine your future and mine–but it is GOD.

A Prayer

Dear reader, perhaps today you’re struggling with sadness, discouragement, doubt, and fear because of someone’s opinion concerning your future. Friend, I wanna encourage you that you have one future; a future that’s bright with love, hope, peace, and joy from the Father of lights (James 1:17). Would you like to accept that future right now?
If so, then just pray the following prayer below:

Amen! Maranatha!
