3 Good Lessons From Haman’s Family (Pt. 3: His Son Vajezatha)

Welcome to Part 3 of our series on good, Biblical lessons from the lives of Haman’s family members!

For this third and final part of our series, let’s dig into another spiritually impactful lesson from Haman’s son:

VAJEZATHA!

Who Was Vajezatha?

We read about Vajezatha in Esther 9. He is listed as the last son of Haman:

Also Parshandatha, Dalphon, Aspatha, Poratha, Adalia, Aridatha, Parmashta, Arisai, Aridai, and Vajezatha— 10 the ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha, the enemy of the Jews—they killed; but they did not lay a hand on the plunder.

(Esther 9:7-10)

What does the name Vajezatha mean? And, like his brother Parshandatha, what lesson can we glean from his name meaning?

As we shall soon learn, Vajezatha’s name has something to do with the power of the wind

The name “Vajezatha” means “strong as the wind.”

That name definition honestly reminds me of something Jesus said in John chapter 3:

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

(John 3:8)

What could this mean for us Christians? How does it apply to us?

Kite Christians

Even though it’s HIGHLY doubtful that Vajezatha himself was being strongly blown spiritually by the wind of the Holy Spirit, this lesson is still applicable for us Christians.

Just like a kite is held up strongly above the earth because of the power of the wind, so is the Christian held above the earth by the strength of the spiritual wind of the Holy Spirit.

A Prayer
