“Drink Ye All Of It” (Pt. 2: Promises)

In our previous blog post, we looked at one spiritual application of Matthew 26:27.

Now, in this blog post, let’s look at another application of Matthew 26:27.

Living Water

Matthew 26:27 says:

And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

(Matthew 26:27)

What else does God want us to fully drink of?

Well, Ephesians 5:26 may give us an answer to that question.

Ephesians 5:26 says:

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

(Ephesians 5:26)

Here, this verse compares God’s Word to being like water.

One of my favorite Christian authors, Ellen White, elaborated more on this idea in her book Steps To Christ page 88:

Fill the whole heart with the words of God. They are the living water, quenching your burning thirst. They are the living bread from heaven. Jesus declares, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.” And He explains Himself by saying, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:53, 63. Our bodies are built up from what we eat and drink; and as in the natural economy, so in the spiritual economy: it is what we meditate upon that will give tone and strength to our spiritual nature.

But Are We Drinking All of It?

While it’s easy to mentally agree that God’s Word IS the water our souls spiritually need, the question that needs to be asked is:

Are we taking time to drink ALL of the living waters of God’s Word and promises?

Or, are we only drinking tablespoons or even tiny teaspoons of the living waters of His Word?

Conclusion & Prayer

Friends, God’s Word and promises are what we need to stay spiritually hydrated amidst the rising temperatures of deception we’re seeing all around us.

And Isaiah 44:3 is a promise that forcefully comes to my mind as a Bible gem of hope to anyone who thirsts for ALL that God wants to hydrate them with!

For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground:

(Isaiah 44:3A)

Friend if you desire to begin having deeper drafts of the living water of God’s Word, then I wanna encourage you to pray:

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

(Revelation 21:6)

Amen! Maranatha!
